Assistant Accountant

Job Description

About the Role:

As the new Assistant Accountant, you will help the business make critical financial decisions by collecting, tracking and reporting on the company’s finances. 

You’ll be involved in financial audits, reconciling bank statements, and ensure that financial records are accurate throughout the year.

What You’re Accountable For:

Financial Reporting:

Completes regular analysis and reviews of back-office data. Monitors and manages data integrity. Oversees bank reconciliations. Oversees all credit card reconciliations. Prepares and provides commentary on the monthly P&L. Prepares balance sheet recs monthly.

Business Excellence:

Monitors all payables to suppliers and employee expense claims. Assists in minimising expense/ identifying cost savings. Monitors and reports on cash balance and prepare cash flow projection. Identifies and explores initiatives that could improve business profitability and maximise financial performance. Acts as the finance back-office expert within the business on day-to-day finance matters.

Business Insights: 

Provides meaningful insights through a comprehensive analysis of financial data as required. Completes regular analysis and reviews of back-office data and seeks ways to improve process efficiency and data accuracy. Assesses internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas, and reports any non-compliance event.

Qualifications & Experience

• Ideally, progressing towards CPA/CA Qualified/Degree 
• 1 to 2 years’ experience with high volume transactions business within the accounting area

Other Considerations

You may be required to travel interstate and overseas from time to time and provide support and advice to parts of the world outside your time zone.
