Background

Helloworld Travel Limited (ASX:HLO) is a leading Australian and New Zealand travel distribution company, comprising retail leisure travel and business travel networks, travel broker networks, destination management services (inbound), air ticket consolidation, tourism transport operations, wholesale travel services, online operations, and event-based freight operations, all supported by world class proprietary and non-proprietary distribution systems. HLO has over 750 staff located in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Greece, and 2,400 members of its travel agency and broker networks in Australia and New Zealand (around 2000 physical agencies in Australia and NZ and around 400 mobile agents).

HLO has recently created a start-up entity (soon to be incorporated and named – “EventCo”), the vision for which is to be the premier experience integration provider for ticketed sports and entertainment events globally, by providing a convenient, reliable and streamlined solution for fans trying to secure multiple components of their live event experience.

We currently have a small, but dedicated and focused team that has been laying the foundations. We are now looking to build the team with the addition of a few critical roles.

Position overview

This role imagines and creates the sports and entertainment experiences sold via the Helloworld Network.

The key outcome of this role is the tailoring of “must have” experiences including suitable accommodation, transport and event day/night hospitality via an understanding of the event demographic, and potential EventCo client. 

You will maintain a variety of key relationships with Event Owners and Producers, as well as suppliers (such as hotels and hospitality providers) that ensures the delivery of a top-quality product to our customers. 

The role will also be responsible for pricing the package offering (in conjunction with EventCo CEO) and for ensuring end to end coordination of all package components delivering a seamless experience.

You need exceptional communication and collaboration skills, and a keen understanding of event and experience delivery. This role requires a high level of creativity, solid organisational skills, and a willingness to collaborate with and between teams and partners. Digital communication experience and social media expertise are highly desirable, and proficiency in computer programs and applications essential. 

What you’re accountable for?

  • Work closely with the CEO, HLO Senior Marketing Executive, Contracting and Procurement teams to create package opportunities that appeal to existing customers, but also broaden the potential market as event volume grows. 
  • Work closely with event owner/promoter key staff to ensure access to all events, and adherence to agreed timelines and commitments for content delivery.
  • Demonstrate a keen awareness of pricing strategies and inclusions for each product, including potentially distressed inventory. 
  • Create and deliver financial modelling and manage internal and external approval processes. 
  • Ensure all marketing and related collateral is correct and accurate for the product and manage the approval process with Event Owners and Producers. 
  • Maintain relationships with the Contracting and Procurement teams to ensure consistent alignment of promotional activity.
  • Support CEO and all the new business teams to achieve flawless execution and delivery of all experiences (both to market/agents, and at the event).
  • Work with peers to effectively communicate new events and activities across the organisation in a timely manner.
  • Actively work with agents and the wider HLO network to seek feedback from customers around suitable package inclusions, desired experiences and other intelligence key to growing volumes. 
  • Effectively work as part of the new events business team, display teamwork principles and positively contribute to the creation of a harmonious work environment.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with suppliers, agencies, partners, and agents/members to ensure flawless delivery.
  • Maintain a professional image when representing the business at external meetings and functions.

  • Develop and foster strong working relationships with internal and external partners.

  • Capability in navigating the wider HLO retail network to ensure mobilisation of all possible sales channels.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in Event Management, Marketing, Hospitality, Business or a related discipline preferred.

Experience

  • Working knowledge of the travel, events (sport, music, theatre), hospitality or related industry preferred.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with a willingness to respond to changes quickly and a proven track record in delivering multifaceted projects is required.
  • Proactive with a hands-on approach and a willingness to work within a team. 
  • A proven track record in the creation and development of effective relationships within a sport, music, events or hospitality environment will be well regarded.
  • Strong attention to detail with proven analytical skills.
  • Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills are mandatory.
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity.

Other considerations

Full time role in the EventCo team based in Melbourne at Normanby Rd offices of HLO. Please note this is not a hybrid position.
